I have only included a few promises about us in this post, but the bible is full of many more truths that God says about us. If you are overwhelmed by the adverse lies of this world, look to find your identity in the promises of God.

· We are forgiven…

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” 1John 1:9

“If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land” 2 Chronicles 7:14

· And redeemed

“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me” Galatians 2:20

“Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree” Galatians 3:13

· We are a new creation

“And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh” Ezekiel 36:26

· We are chosen and belong to him

“I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.” John 10:28

“Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience” Colossians 3:12

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light” 1 Peter 2:9

· We have abundant life

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly” John 10:10

“The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever” 1 John 2:17

· We can put our hope in him

“Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God”

Psalm 42:11

“You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word”

Psalm 119:114

· We are protected from evil

“But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one” 2 Thessalonians 3:3

· We should not fear, because he is with us

“For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, ‘Abba! Father!’” Romans 8:15

· We are precious to him

“God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” Romans 5:8

“Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows” Matthew 10:31

“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me” Galatians 2:20

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them” Ephesians 2:10

· He knows us and created us intentionally

O Lord, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether..

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth.

Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.

How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them!

Psalm 139:1-4, 13-17

· We are given everything we need (not everything we want)

“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus” Philippians 4:19

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good,[h] for those who are called according to his purpose” Romans 8:28

· We will never be abandoned by Him

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you” Isaiah 43:2

“It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” Deuteronomy 31:8
